Refrain from touching the sensitive humidity sensor. Any touch of the
same will result in an expiration of the warranty.
When using the sensor in aggressive gases, an early recalibration or a
change of the humidity sensor can become necessarily. Such a
recalibration or a probable sensor change do not come under the
general warranty.

HOW TO OPERATE Cool Air Center

General Directions

Main Switch

The main switch is to be switched on before commissioning commences.

Further functions:

1. Switching off of the complete system in the event of danger.

2. Switching off when work is being performed on the electrical installation, or when work is

being carried out inside the control switchboard.

Phase lights L1 - L2 - L3 (with light prefuse)

In order to operate the system, voltage must be present in all 3 phases.

Should the supply to a phase fail, the motor protection overcurrent relays for the drive motors are

actuated and switch the control system to fault.

When the 3 phases are restored, before starting up again, the motor protection equipment must

be switched to the working position by pushing the keys.

Control voltage 220 V and control fuses

For safety reasons the control voltage is produced by the isolating transformer.

The transformer is protected against overloading and short circuiting by fuses.

Should the complete control system fail, the fuses should be checked.

For the control circuit supply air and exhaust air different fuses are used.

In case of a fault the fuses have to be checked.

Operating or fault indication

The operating status of each motor that is switched on is indicated by the control panel. Should

a fault occur in the motor control e.g. through the actuating of an over current relay or a thermal

contact in the motor winding this is shown as a blinking signal and written into the alarm list of the

panel.

Control voltage 24 V

The low voltage that is necessary for the signal lamps and the PLC-terminal strip is produced by a

power supply. The power supply is protected against overloading and short circuiting by fuses.

In the event of fault the prefuse on the primary side and the fuses on the secondary side should be

checked.

Voltage Supply Axicos

The PLC-station has its own power-supply unit with an input voltage of 230V. It is protected by

fuses.

Collective fault signal

The individual fault signals are, as explained, shown on the control switchboard with the help of

the control panel, and in addition collected in the PLC-station and given out as a PLC collective

fault signal.

The collective fault signal is wired onto an electric terminal and is available for further signal

transmission.

Ventilation Technical Directions

1. Requirements for the operation of the ventilation system

Before starting operation the following points should be checked:

All the covers, revision ports and access openings on the aeraulic equipment must be

hermetically closed.

The control units as well as the covers of all electrical equipment must be closed.

2. Filter monitoring

The air filters in the supply air units are monitored with the help of a differential pressure switch.

As the dirt in the filters increases, the differential pressure rises so causing the diffential

pressure switch to activate a signal in the PLC station. This is then passed further on over the

collective fault signal.

Attention is also drawn to the dirtying of the filter by way of a visual reading instrument. The

filter should be changed by a pressure difference of approx. 200 Pa.

Control and regulation in the PLC programme:

Demand supply air and exhaust air

The system is switched with the control switch to ON / OFF or READY FOR OPERATION.

Control switch with the positions:

2 = AUTOMATIC / remote control

The supply ventilators and the exhaust air ventilators are free to operate.

By time clock operation automatic the system will be switched on and off by way of the

Axicos PLC-Station.

0 = OFF

1 = MANUAL (ON)

The supply air ventilators and exhaust air ventilators are switched ON directly.

Demand the complete system

a) In the simplest case by way of an external (potential free) contact of the printing machine.

Result: When the printing machine is running the ventilation system also functions.

b) In addition to the the printing machine contact, the ventilation system can be switched on in

combination with the external selector switch. This is carried out by way of the position

HAND in continuous operation, or the position A ( A = Automatic), by way of a time

programme contained in the DDC-programme (time dependent ON / OFF).

Operation: night cool control

The method of operation is only effective when the ventilation system from the normal operating

demand is switched to the OFF function.

This auxillary operation is intended for cooling the warm air in summer time by way of ventilation

operating at night. The low temperature outside air is used to remove the remaining room heat

caused by daytime working. This results in the room being cooled down.

The night cooling system switches on under the following conitions:

Room temperature in excess of room temperature set point + 3°C

The difference between inside and outside temperature must be more than 3K

Night switching time is between 22 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The above conditions are programmed in the PLC-station , however they can be altered at any

time.

With this auxillary operation the supply air temperature base, which is dependent upon the room

temperature, is changed over to a low temperature niveau, to enable ventilation (cooling) with the

highest possible percentage of outside air.

Supply air temperature base by normal operating = +19...26°C

Supply air temperature base by night cooling operation = +17…24°C

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRANSPORTING AND INSTALLING

i.Cool AirCenter

1. Installation of the roof ducts for outside air and exhaust air

a) Below the roof of the hall, install a replacement of steel girders to hold the roof base

(weight), according to the instructions of the engineer who made the static calculations.

b) A roofer should cut out the gap in the roof according to the existing detail plans.

c) Place the roof base in the middle of the gap and use Parker screws to fasten the supporting

flange to the roof.

d) Now glue the roof vapor barrier to the upper side of the roof base, all the way to under the

trimming that runs around it.

e) Remove the covering of the flap driving motor by untwisting the wing nuts and pull the vapor

barrier under the motor covering. Screw the covering on again to provide the motor with a

water-tight seal.

f) Use a crane to transport the exhaust air fan to the roof base; remove the cover plate of the

roof base for the outgoing air. The cover plate is delivered in advance as rain protection.

g) Inside the building, under the roof base for the exhaust air, install a condensate basin for

dripping water, according to the details.

h) Install the T-piece for the suction, with the suction bend, on the outside air roof base.

When installing the roof base, pay attention to the pitch of the roof!

2. Installing the air column

a) Use anchor bolts to fix the supply air outlet to the hall floor. To do this, open the installation

openings in the bottom of the air outlet. Now you can mark the drilling holes on the floor and

screw the air outlet to the floor, using the enclosed anchor.

b) Use a forklift or block and tackle to lift the supply air unit to the supply air outlet; make an

air-tight connection to the supply air outlet with four M-8 screws. If the supply air unit

consists of 2 elements (cooling part + fan part with filter), first put on the cooling piece, then

the fan piece. Connect the two parts to one another in the insides of the devices with the

enclosed clamps. The seal between the supply air outlet and the supply air unit is made with

rubber sealing tape or transparent silicone.

Position the air columns according to the existing detail plans.

When surveying, you must ensure that the dimensions are accurate. You must install

the units in the vertical position.

3. Duct installation

a) Install the ducts between the roof base for the outside air suction and the supply air unit

using ventilation ducts of zinc-coated steel plate with a wall thickness of 1 mm. If you use

an exhaust device instead of roof fans, install the ducts as described above.

b) If the outside air/recirculating air mixing chamber is not integrated in the roof base, insulate

the ducts from the roof base for the outside air to the mixing chamber with diffusion-tight

insulation (such as the Armaflex brand, 9mm).

Refer to the detail plan for the items included in the delivery and the installation arrangement.

4. Installing the control cabinet

a) Position the switch cabinet according to the existing installation plans. You do not have to

fix it to the floor.

5. Installing the two room temperature sensors

a) Install one room temperature sensor between the last and next-to-last printing unit, at a

height of approximately 2 m (6.5 ft).

b) Install the second room temperature sensor in the area of the folder, at a height of

approximately 2.5 m (8 ft) (install on the operator's side of the printing press, according to

specifications in the installation plan).

You must coordinate the attachments with the machine manufacturer's chief engineer.

6. Electrical wiring

Carry out the electrical wiring according to the existing cable list and the submitted circuit

diagrams.

The supply air units have already been wired to a terminal box on the outside.

Required are:

a) Main incoming supply to i.Cool AirCenter switch cabinet

b) Cable bundle for demands and collect error message between the printing press and the

i.Cool AirCenter switch cabinet

c) Power and control lines between the i.Cool AirCenter switch cabinet and the supply air units

d) Power and control lines between the i.Cool AirCenter switch cabinet and the exhaust air

fans

e) Sensor lines between the i.Cool AirCenter switch cabinet and the two room sensors

f) Manufacture of an analog telephone connection for modem operation (in the i.Cool

AirCenter control cabinet). If an i.Cool AquaCenter is delivered at the same time, the

modem connection is in the i.Cool AquaCenter.

g) Bus between the i.Cool AquaCenter and the i.Cool AirCenter switch cabinet.

7. General information on scheduling sequence

a) Placement of the roof base before the delivery of the printing press, using a crane or

inclined lift, including sealing (by the roofer)

b) Installation of the source air columns with a forklift and scaffolding, after the rough

placement of the printing press, including installation of the exhaust air fan on the roof and

installation of the connecting ducts.

c) Electrical wiring of the i.Cool AirCenter

d) Check of all work performed, using the Www.hvacmep.website System Startup Checklist

e) System startup of the i.Cool AirCenter by a system startup technician from Www.hvacmep.website
